Flaming Star And Shull Nebulae
Centered in the southern area of the constellation of Auriga lie the Flaming Star and Skull Nebulae. This image covers a 2.5 degree section of the night sky with the skull, IC 410, in the upper left and the flaming star, IC 405, in the lower right. In this picture celestial north is up and to the right corner of the picture. The Skull has it's chin up towards the upper left of the picture. The thin wedge of bright, colorful stars between them can be seen by the naked eye from mid to dark skies but the nebulae are too dim to see with the naked eye.
