North American and Pelican Nebula

North American and Pelican Nebula

Near the bright star called Deneb which is part of the constellation of Cygnus we find the very large nebulous area that resembles the shape of North America. To it's right is another large but dimmer nebula called the Pelican which is looking to the left with a long beak resting on it's rather portly body. This picture enhances the Hydrogen Alpha emissions of the nebula. In the bottom right the three segments of the much dimmer IC5068 nebula are seen. We see a 4 x 4 degree section of the night sky in this shot with North at the top.
