North American and Pelican Nebulas

North American and Pelican Nebulas

In the upper right we see the bright star called Deneb which is part of the constellation of Cygnus. Here lies a very large nebulous area that resembles the shape of North America. To it's right is another large but dimmer nebula called the Pelican which is looking to the left with a long beak resting on it's rather portly body. This picture, done exclusively to capture the Hydrogen Alpha emissions of the nebula, also shows along the bottom right the three segments of the much dimmer IC5068 nebula. We see a 5.3 x 4 degree section of the night sky in this shot with North at the top.
