North Eastern Large Magellanic Cloud
From the southern skies one can see a close by dwarf galaxy that is called the LMC or Large Magellanic Cloud. The LMC appears to the naked eye as a larger than 4 degree wide glow. This section pictured here shows the famous 'Tarantula Nebula' in the lower left but also reveals many other interesting nebulous patches. These glowing gases glow red for hydrogen and glow teal for oxygen gases. The center of this dwarf galaxy is seen as a wide bar from bottom center heading up and to the right.
