Ornate Nebulae in North East of the LMC

Ornate Nebulae in North East of the LMC

In the deep southern dwarf galaxy called the LMC we find two ornate nebula shown in this half degree wide field where south is down in this picture. Just to the right of center we find what is called the Dragons Head although in a telescope it has also been referred to as 'the teeth' as it appears to be 3 teeth. In the upper left we see in the red of glowing hydrogen gas of HenizeN 57A surrounding Ngc2014. This area has a complex series of glowing gas billowing off into the upper left of this picture. Note that to it's right we have the teal glow of excited oxygen atoms making up the donut shape of Ngc2020. The picture contains other interesting star clusters and fainter nebulous areas and was a favorite area of mine in visual observing trip taken in 2010 to Australia as this area cannot be seen from North America.
