The Eagle Nebula
The Eagle Nebula is designated as Messier 16 and contains the well known 'Pillars of Creation' made famous from an amazing Hubble Space Telescope image. This image shows the pillars just above the center of this 1.5 x 1 degree image where the top of the image is a few degrees off of North. This image shows the intricate nebulous area that extends well beyond the visual limits of the center of the nebula that gave M16 the name of the eagle.
